Learn More About CBD
What is CBD ?
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a phytocannabinoid commonly found in high concentrations certain strains of hemp. It is one of at least 113 cannabinoids discovered in the cannabis plant and is non-intoxicating in its effects.
Medicinal benefits of CBD have been well researched and deemed safe by the World Health Organization. There’s no doubt CBD is a powerful phytochemical with incredible healing potential.
Research shows that CBD may be effective in alleviating anxiety, chronic pain and insomnia. Also known for its healing properties, CBD offers antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits which can be beneficial in treating skin conditions such as inflammation, dryness and free radical damage.
Additionally, CBD is effective in fighting acne as it helps reduce the production of sebum in the skin. Studies also indicate that CBD may be effective in treating eczema and psoriasis.

What is the difference between CBD and THC and how do they work in the body? Does CBD Oil get you high?
THC and CBD are cannabinoids that derive from the Cannabis Sativa species. However, each come in different concentrations depending on the plant you are using. Cannabinoids are similar to messengers we use in our own bodies (called endocannabinoids) which fit into specific receptors, the Cannabinoid receptors. There are two different kinds of receptors,
- CB 1 receptor, primarily in our brain and nervous system and plays a huge role in anxiolytic & pain control effects, as well in mental alteration.
- CB 2 receptor, is found in our skin & immune cells and sebaceous glands and it modulates inflammation, pain control and oil production.
THC primarily binds to the CB 1 receptor and has a psychotropic effect giving the euphoric “high” feeling. Whereas, CBD primarily binds to the CB 2 receptor and will never give the “high” feeling and is thought to work with other elements in the body, linked to feelings of well-being.
Is CBD Skin care Legal?
CAbsolutely! There are different kinds of Cannabis plants, and they have a different concentration in Cannabinoids: The Marijuana plants (high in THC, low in CBD) and the Industrial Hemp plants (high in CBD, less than 0.3 % THC) and of course crossbreeds in between. According to the 2018 Farm Bill, cannabinoids derived from industrial hemp, containing less than 0.3% THC, are legal. Currently CBD is legal in all 50 states.

Is CBD & Hemp Oil the same?
No. Cannabidiol is part of Hemp Oil, which you get from pressing the Hemp plant, but Hemp Oil does contains a plethora of beneficial ingredients for your skin. It is rich in Vitamin A, D and E as well as essential fatty acids, which makes it good for mature and irritated skin. It also has Cannabidiol, but in a much lower concentration than you get when you use the pure CBD Oil, which has been extracted through a specific process.
